Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today provided important updates on vital infrastructure projects following a significant meeting with Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari.

A key focus of the discussions was the construction of the Jorhat to Dibrugarh National Highway.

CM Sarma announced that the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) is overseeing the project. Delays had occurred due to excessive rainfall during this year’s monsoon, but with the monsoon retreating, all stakeholders committed to expediting the remaining tasks.

The Chief Minister announced a social media platform after holding discussions with Union Minister of Highways Nitin Gadkari. “Our collective priority remains the timely completion of these vital National Highway projects across various implementing agencies,” he said.

CM Sarma emphasized the need for Union Minister Gadkari’s oversight to ensure timely completion.

The meeting also addressed other crucial projects, including an elevated corridor over Kaziranga National Park, which has an estimated cost of ₹5,500 crore and is expected to receive cabinet approval within two to three months.

Additionally, plans for a tunnel from Gohpur to Numaligarh and the upgrade of the Baihata to Tezpur National Highway to a four-lane road were also discussed.
