At least 28 Tripura State Rifle jawans left critically injured in a bus accident on Monday night.

The accident took place at Baramra Hills on National Highway 8 in West District of Tripura.

The troopers were on their way to Agartala Railway Station to take a train on the following day to Chhattisgarh for attending election duty.

Most of them sustained head injuries as the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a gorge and were later rushed to the Agartala Government Medical College Hospital for treatment.

State Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Health Minister Sudip Roy Burman, Chief Secretary LK Gupta, Director General of Police AK Shukla and other senior police officials rushed to hospital and took note of the situation and spoke with the injured.
