A tragedy was averted in Manipur’s border town of Moreh when police detected a bomb planted under a parked tractor used by the workers and traders association.
Armed rebel group members are suspected to be behind the planting of the bomb.
On receiving information about the suspicious object beneath the tractor, Moreh police immediately rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. The spot was then cordoned off by the police and a team of Assam Rifles.
Following the detection of the bomb, a special bomb squad was called by Manipur Police from Imphal.
The bomb was reportedly diffused later this afternoon and disposed at Houlemphai Village, 3km away from Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate No. 1.
Just a day ago unidentified miscreants hurled a grenade in a busy Imphal market killing a CRPF jawan and injuring another.
