5 Manipur NPP MLAs in a letter said that the party’s national vice president Joykumar Yumnam had given certain statements about the withdrawal of support to the Biren Singh government.

There appears to be a revolt of sorts within the NPP in Manipur with 5 of the 7 party MLAs writing to the national president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma seeking his immediate intervention in resolving the confusion over reports of the party withdrawing support to the Biren Singh government in the state.

A letter addressed to Conrad Sangma by 5 Manipur NPP MLAs says that the party’s national vice president Joykumar Yumnam, who is a top NPP leader in the state, had given certain statements about the withdrawal of support to the Biren Singh government without any consultation with the NPP MLAs in Manipur.

The letter signed by MLAs Janghemlung Panmei, K Loken Singh, M Rameshwar Singh, I Nalini Devi and Th Shanti Singh, have requested party national president Conrad Sangma to hold a meeting with the Manipur MLAs and Joykumar Yumnam to discuss this issue at the organisational level rather than at the individual level.

It may be mentioned that the contents of the letter has already been discussed in the Manipur NPP Executive meeting held in Guwahati which was presided over by NPP national president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.

A final decision on the matter will be taken at the NPP national executive scheduled to be held on October 5 in New Delhi.
