Late Night Violence in Gauhati University, Students Clash over PG Union Poll Results, Several Injured

The situation quickly escalated into physical violence, resulting in serious injuries to nine students.
A major fight broke out at the Gauhati University late last night. Several students sustained injuries because of the violent clash. The fight occurred between boarders of the Madhab Bezbaruah Boys’ Hostel (RCC-1) and the Gopinath Bordoloi Boys’ Hostel (RCC-2), allegedly due to disagreement related to the Gauhati University Post Graduate Students’ Union Elections for the 2024-25 academic year.
The situation quickly escalated into physical violence, resulting in serious injuries to nine students. All injured individuals were rushed to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for treatment. Two students were discharged after receiving medical attention, while the others are still under observation.
