Meghalaya Health Minister AL Hek called on Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi to apprise him on the request of the state government to retain the office of Chief Commissioner of Customs and CGST in Shillong.
Hek also handed over Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma letter of request to consider the demand and the Union Minister has assured to examine the matter.
It may be recalled that the Government of Meghalaya had allotted a land measuring 15 acres for setting up of the office in New Shillong Township.
Hek also apprised Union Minister on the urgent need to develop infrastructure in view of the upcoming National Games 2022 in the State.
Later in the day, Hek met Union Tourism Minister Alphons Kannanthanam to request sanction of Rs. 70 crore under ‘Swadesh Darshan’ scheme, which was announced prior to assembly election in Meghalaya.
