Sumi Borah accused the media of maligning her image and reputation with baseless allegations and causing her significant mental distress.

After 10 days of evading arrest in connection with a multi-crore trading scam in Assam, Sumi Borah, an actor and social media influencer, along with her husband, photographer Tarkik Borah, surrendered before the Dibrugarh Police this morning.

Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh took to social media to confirm this development in the multi-crore trading scam and said “The game is up for them”.

DGP Singh praised the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police for their active work and persistence in tracking down the fugitives.

“The game is up for them. Compliments to the Team STF. তেওঁলোকৰ বাবে খেল শেষ। অভিনন্দন Team STF,” the DGP wrote on Facebook.

Sumi Borah who is said to be a close associate of scam kingpin Bishal Phukan along with husband Tarkik Borah had been on the run since September 2.
Earlier on Wednesday, Sumi Borah in a video statement refuted claims of deliberately avoiding police arrest, stating that her absence was due to her emotional state in response to the criticism she had been facing.

She also accused the media of maligning her reputation with baseless allegations and causing her significant mental distress.

She explained that she had been in hiding, not out of fear but because she was unable to respond to the media’s accusations. She expressed her intent to surrender, asserting that truth would eventually prevail.

She said that she would fully cooperate with the police in the investigation of the scam.

Yesterday, the police arrested Tarkik Bora’s brother Amlan Bora from Bihar in connection with the case.

The extravagent lifestyle of actor and influencer Sumi Borah and her husband Tarkik has finally caught up with them as they were arrested by the Assam Police today.

Prior to the downfall of the duo, they lived a life that many could only dream of. Now infamous for orchestrating one of the most elaborate scams in recent memory, the duo siphoned off millions from unsuspecting victims. This ill-gotten wealth funded a lifestyle marked by extravagance and indulgence, far removed from the modest backgrounds they hailed from.

Tarkik and Sumi’s new found riches allowed them to indulge in every luxury imaginable. The couple was often seen in five-star hotels, frequenting the most exclusive clubs and restaurants in cities across India and abroad. They were known to spend lavishly on designer clothing, with wardrobes boasting labels like Gucci, Prada, and Louis Vuitton. Their love for high-end fashion was matched only by their penchant for expensive accessories, with Sumi frequently flaunting her diamond and gold studded jewelry.
