Sikkim: Former Minister Ugen T Gyasto Bhutia resigns from BJP party

Former Tourism, Civil Aviation, Commerce and Industry Department Minister, Ugen T Gyasto Bhutia resigned from Bharatiya Janta Party. Speaking about his resignation, Bhutia didn’t specify which party he will join,
Former Tourism, Civil Aviation, Commerce and Industry Department Minister, Ugen T Gyasto Bhutia resigned from Bharatiya Janta Party.
Speaking about his resignation, Bhutia didn’t specify which party he will join, although he said that he has already met with Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.
Bhutia, who was considered as the right hand of SDF Chief Pawan Chamling, had previously resigned from Sikkim Democratic Front in September 2019 along with 9 other MLAs and joined BJP.
In 2009 Bhutia became the MLA for the first time from Tumin Lingi Constituency and served as the Chief Whip of the SDF.
After winning the general elections in 2014 for the second time, he became the Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Commerce, and Industry.
In 2019, Bhutia won from the same constituency although the SDF couldn’t came into power.
Later, in September month of the same year, he along with 9 other MLAs resigned from SDF and joined the Bharatiya Janta Party.
In 2024, the BJP appointed him as chairman of the election campaign committee.
