ILP in Nagaland: Dy CM Patton Meets 25 CSOs, Says Govt to Take Decision Soon; NSF’s Deadline Expires on Sept 19

With the Naga Students Federation setting a 14-day deadline to implement ILP (Inner Line Permit) in three districts of Nagaland, Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton held a crucial meet today with over two dozen civil society organisations (CSOs) and representatives of NSF in Chumoukedima.
Speaking to Northeast Live after the meeting, Dy CM Patton said that a decision on the implementation of ILP in the districts of Dimapur, Chumoukedima and Niuland bordering Assam would be taken soon.
Addressing the crucial meeting, Dy CM Patton referred to a viral video showing a lot of people looking like immigrants walking on a railway platform and said, “After the video was circulated on September 2, of passengers disembarking from a train at platform No 2 of Dimapur station, both police and administration sprang into action immediately. Three counters were set up at Dimapur railway station, covering all exit gates, to check suspected illegal immigrations deporting at Dimapur.”
“CSOs appealed to the state government for ILP in Dimapur, Chumoukedima, and Niuland. State government have appointed ILP Implementation Committee. After the discussion by the Implementation Committee, it submitted a report to the state government. Very soon the government will discuss and come out with the necessary order,” Dy CM Patton told Northeast Live.
Asked if any illegal immigrant has been nabbed in Nagaland, the Dy CM who is also in-charge of the Home department, said that from January to August this year, 93 illegal immigrants have been arrested, of which 43 were arrested in August.
Besides the CSOs, the meeting was attended by the Nagaland DGP, Home Commissioner, Commissioner, Dimapur Police Commissioner, and DCs of Dimapur, Chumoukedima and Niuland.
