In a tragic accident, 4 people including 3 of a family died after the vehicle they were travelling in collided head-on with another vehicle in Assam’s Cachar district.

The impact of the collision was so big that one of the cars got thrown into a pond nearby.

The accident took place at Katakhal Bypass on the Silchar Road today afternoon.

Local residents rescued the victims and sent them to Kalinagar Health Centre and Silchar Medical College.

The three of the same family who died were Gopa Das (55), mother, Brajogopal Das (60), father and Ramendra Narayan Das (58), uncle of Barnali Das, Physics Lecturer at Badarpur Paragon College. Their driver, Ajay Debnath (34), also died on the spot.

Among the injured is a young girl whose condition is said to be critical.
