Was singer Dikshu Sarma aware of the Rs 3,000 crore stock market scam in Assam? Did he knowingly provide shelter to the alleged associate of scamster Bishal Phukan, actor and influencer Sumi Borah to evade police amid the allegations of her involvement in this?
As the investigation into the Rs 3,000 crore stock market scam continues, these questions have emerged about singer Dikshu Sarma’s possible connection to the case after it was found that Sumi Borah with her husband, popular photographer Tarkik Borah, visited Dikshu Sarma’s residence in Guwahati on the night of September 2.
Speaking to media today, Singer Dikshu Sarma said that on the night of September 2, Sumi and Tarkik visited his home in a visibly distressed state. They claimed to be mentally disturbed, which led Sarma to inquire about their troubles. The couple revealed their concern over their relationship with Bishal Phukan who is the mastermind behind the scam.
The singer stated that he suggested the couple to surrender before the police if they had any involvement in the scam. However, they refused to comply though, and Sarma asked them to leave his home.
“I arrived home at 9:30 p.m. They were already at my residence and were extremely tense. When I inquired, they said they were worried about their relationship with Bishal Phukan. I suggested them to surrender before the police if they had committed any offenses. But they refused to comply. When I felt suspicious, I requested them to leave. I had no idea about this whole scam and Sumi Borah’s alleged involvement in it,” said Dikshu.
Bishal Phukan was arrested from Dibrugarh on Tuesday. He is accused of defrauding people of over Rs 2,000 crore. Phukan was taken into custody by Dibrugarh Police on Tuesday. Phukan identifies himself as an industrialist, singer and music composer.
