Good news for the travellers in Sikkim. They can now breathe easy with the exciting news that IndiGo will offer direct flight services from Pakyong Airport, the only airport of Sikkim, to major Indian cities–Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bangalore starting October this year.
This new initiative marks a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity for the region.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Pakyong Airport’s director S.K. Singh said that a high-level team from IndiGo will be visiting the Pakyong Airport in the first week of September for this particular service.
The new routes, operated by IndiGo, will provide residents and travellers from Sikkim with more convenient access to these key destinations, improving travel options and supporting regional growth.
Currently, Spicejet is operating the service from Pakyong Airport to Delhi and Kolkata.
Yesterday, Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba visited the Pakyong Airport to stock of the situation of Pakyong’s airport after a rain-triggered landslide severely damaged a significant portion of the boundary wall of the Airport last week.
