While two women hails from the Hnahthial district, the other one is from the Champhai district.
Three women from Mizoram who were recently rescued from Syria and returned safely to their homes expressed their deep gratitude to Chief Minister Lalduhoma for his pivotal role in their safe return.
They called on CM Lalduhoma at his residence yesterday. The Chief Minister congratulated them on their safe return to Mizoram and apprised them of the Mizo Diaspora Cell, which was established to collect data of Mizos across the globe and to help whenever they face hardships.
The trio were illegally sent to Syria by a private placement agency in November 2022 to work as housemaids. Soon after they reached Syria on November 6, 2022, they began to face issues from their employers.
Their plight was brought to public knowledge by Lalremsangi Fanai, Mizoram BJP Spokesperson, who initially helped them with the necessary legal processes required for their return.
Court cases were also involved in the matter.
The Mizoram police and Indian Embassy authorities worked tirelessly to resolve the concern.
After the legal cases were won, the Indian embassy in Damascus gave shelter to the three women for three weeks.
On August 20, 2024, they were brought to New Delhi, and on August 24, they were brought to Aizawl.
Two of the rescued women hail from the Hnahthial district and the third one is from Champhai district.
