Tripura CM Announces Rs 2 Cr from Relief Fund for Flood-Affected Areas

Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha of continued all-out support to the State Government

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has announced the allocation of Rs 2 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to help those affected by the devastating floods in various parts of the state.

“An amount of Rs 2.0 crore from Chief Minister’s Relief fund will also be utilised for providing relief to people affected by the floods in different parts of the State,” CM Saha posted on X.

Earlier, in the day Chief Minister Saha informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured full support to the Tripura government in overcoming the challenges posed aftermath due to the devastating floods and landslides.

He also spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and apprised him of the latest situation arising out of the unprecedented natural calamity.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah too assured Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha of continued all-out support to the State Government.

Additionally, a central team would be visiting the state to assess the damages.

Tripura is grappling with one of the worst floods in 67 years since 1956. At least 26 people died due to the floods while two are missing.

Over 1,00,000 people across all eight districts of the state are currently living in the 520 relief camps and as many as 17 lakh people have been affected.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has announced Rs 4 lakh as an ex-gratia assistance to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 2.5 lakh to those injured.

Earlier, the Chief Minister pegged the losses at a staggering Rs 15,000 crore.
