In a shocking incident, motorcycle borne unidentified miscreants shot dead the Assistant Manager of SBI’s Dadara branch from a point blank range.
The incident happened in the middle of a busy road at Agyathuri in Kamrup-Rural district near Guwahati on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Junu Sharma. The incident happened at a time when Junu Sharma was returning home from her workplace.
Eyewitnesses claim that one of the miscreants was riding the motorcycle while the pillion rider shot one round of bullets that pierced into her neck breaking the window pane of the car she was travelling in.
Junu Sharma was then immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical condition where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The miscreants managed to flee the spot of incident. However, Junu Sharma’s driver had a narrow escape and managed to save his life.
Police have detained Junu Sharma’s driver Pranab Kalita for questioning. Notably, it has been just 2 months that Pranab Kalita has been was working for Junu Sharma.
It is worth mentioning that Junu Sharma’s husband also an employee of SBI in Guwahati. Junu Sharma was a resident of Guwahati’s Chandmari locality.
The husband of the deceased has alleged that his wife was murdered to cover up a huge financial scam committed at the Dadara branch of the SBI. He alleged that SBI officials mired in corruption murdered his wife to hide their crimes.
The victim’s husband also alleged that the deceased officer had sought for transfer from the Dadara branch which was rejected by the General manager.
Meanwhile, police have started investigation into the incident. Kamrup Rural SP Parthasarthi Mahanta, Assistant SP Sanjeev Saikia also reached the spot to take stock of situation. The investigating team has also recovered a cartridge of the fired 9mm pistol.
