With fuel prices decreased by as much as Rs 5 since last midnight, it has brought in a sigh of relief for the common people.

But inspite of this, public transport vehicles in Assam are still charging the hiked fares much to the woes of the people.

While the fare hike which was agreed upon by the state government was fixed at 30 percent, people are alleging that fare upto 50 pc increased rate has been procured by the public transport conductors from the public.

Now with the decrease in fuel prices, people are demanding a reduction in public transport fare since fuel prices had been cited as the main reason behind the fare hike.
