Influx of illegal infiltrators from Bangladesh is continuing unabated. 15 Bangladeshi nationals including 7 third gender people entered India through Tripura in the last 24 hours, Government Railway Police (GRP) officials said.
As many as 38 illegal infiltrators from the neighboring country have been arrested this week in Tripura.

While the 15 Bangladeshi nationals were en route to West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, the 7 third gender infiltrators were planning to travel to Assam and then move on to Mumbai for jobs.

The 7 Bangladeshis were detained from the interstate bus terminus at the Panisagar checkpoint in North Tripura district last night, Panisagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sumanta Bhattacharya said.

The other 8 Bangladeshis were held at the Agartala Railway Station.

Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Officer-in-Charge of Government Railway Police (GRP), Tapas Das said, “We have arrested eight Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian touts who facilitated their illegal crossing into India. Our preliminary investigation indicates that they were planning to travel to Kolkata and Chennai.”

Upon their arrest, authorities recovered mobile phones and Bangladeshi documents in their possession, which were subsequently seized. The arrested individuals have been identified as Shahadat Hossain, Trisha Akhter, Shapla Akhter, Raju Ahmed, Shah Alam, Shukurji, Biplab, and Karim Sen.

Following their apprehension, the accused were presented before a local court and charged under the Foreigners Act. The authorities have requested their remand to police custody for further interrogation.

Earlier, 23 Bangladesh nationals were apprehended at the Agartala rail station operation in a coordinated effort by the Government Railway Police(GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and other security agencies on July 28.

A Bangladeshi tout was earlier arrested by the GRP from Agartala in connection to the infiltration of four Bangladeshi nationals on July 26. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had earlier arrested more than 20 touts from various parts of Tripura.
