Meet Dibaba Sisters, Only Siblings On Earth To Hold Multiple World Records including 4 Olympic Gold Medals 2 Silver, 3 Bronze Medals

The trailblazing sisters are known as--Anna Dibaba, Melat Dibaba, Tirunesh Dibaba, Ejegayehu Dibaba and Genzebe Dibaba.

In a historic achievement that has captured global attention, the 4 trailblazing Dibaba sisters – Anna Dibaba, Melat Dibaba, Tirunesh Dibaba, Ejegayehu Dibaba and Genzebe Dibaba from Ethiopia have made history as the only siblings on earth to hold concurrent world records.

Their resume includes 4 Olympic Gold Medals, 2 Silver Medals, 3 Bronze Medals and 15 World Championships.

Who are the Dibaba sisters?
The sisters were born and raised close to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. They grew up in a tukul, also known as a round mud hut, without electricity.

Their parents were subsistent farmers. They are a big family of seven siblings, and every one of them is a runner.

Tirunesh is the most decorated, with three Olympic gold medals. She made history at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing where she became the first woman to win gold in the 5,000 meters and 10,000-meter races. She then went on to win gold at the 2012 Olympics in London, where she became the first woman to win the event at two consecutive Olympics, as reported in Face 2 Face Africa, reported travelnoire.com.

Genzebe Dibaba, has excelled in middle-distance events, setting world records and claiming numerous championship medals.

Genzebe was a 1500-meter world champion in 2015, a bronze medallist in the 5000-meter event, and an Olympic silver medallist in Rio 2016. A 2015 Diamond League champion as well as a five-time world indoor champion in the 1500 and 3000 meters from 2012 to 2018.

The third of the sisters won the 10,000m silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. Ejegayehu claimed 5000m and 10,000m bronze medals at the 2005 World Championships and was the 2003 Afro-Asian Games and All-Africa Games champion in the 10,000m, reported the pulsesports.

The other two sisters are Anna and Melat, but they’re not actively into track and field.

The Dibaba sisters’ concurrent world records and extensive honours not only highlight their individual achievements but also celebrate a unique family legacy in athletics.
