Transport fares are set to increase throughout Assam coming into effect from October 3. Public transport vehicles will witness 40% increase in fares following fuel price hike.
On the other hand, fares for city bus and private taxis are expected to rise from October 10 onwards. The All Assam Motor Transport Association had formally announced their decision to increase fares following skyrocketing fuel prices.
The prices while the association has given its reasons for the move, people are already weary of the price rise in all essentials and now the increase in public transport fares is going to add the extra burden on them.
