Sikkim Govt To Announce Pension Scheme, Medical Insurance For Journalists

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) announced that the his government will soon introduce a pension scheme and medical insurance for journalists of the state.
The Department of Personnel, Public Grievances, Services and Information & Public Relations (PCS and IPR) will be tasked with formulating the criteria, rules, and regulations for this scheme, the CM said.
Funding for the pension scheme will be allocated as a grant-in-aid from the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Grant, which will be presented at the upcoming budget session for approval.
Furthermore, the CM also pledged to introduce a medical insurance coverage for journalists. This would be done after consultations with Manipal Hospital Tadong.
This initiative aims to provide comprehensive health coverage to journalists in the state.
The CM also announced the decision to increase the cash amount for the Kanchenjunga Kalam Puraskar and Lagansheel Yuwa Patrakarita Puraskar will next year.
