This will be the first budget of the Pema Khandu government after its return to power for the third term.

The Arunachal Pradesh Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Bill 2024 aimed at cleansing the examination system in government recruitment and the financial statement for 2024-25 fiscal (Budget) are among the many key bills which will be tabled during the eight-day budget session of the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly which began today.

The Examination Bill 2024 holds significance as it has been drafted in the backdrop of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) paper leak case of 2022 which put many student’s futures at stake.

The Bill was approved by the Pema Khandu Cabinet last week in order to prevent and curb question paper leaks and other malpractices during the recruitment examinations conducted by various recruitment agencies.

The Bill, after becoming an Act, will ensure free and fair selection process for all posts under the government of Arunachal and detect malpractices.

The draft Bill talks of stringent penalties including a jail term and a fine of up to Rs one crore in case anyone is found indulging in malpractices like leaking question papers.

The other Bills which will be tabled in the House today are the Arunachal Pradesh Amending Bill, 2024, and the Balipara/Tirap/Sadiya Frontier Tract Jhum Land Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2024.

The annual financial statement (budget) for the 2024-25 fiscal will be presented on July 24.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who also holds the finance and planning portfolio, will present the budget on July 24 during the eight-day session.

This will be the first budget of the Pema Khandu government after its return to power for the third term.

The budget session commenced with the motion of thanks to the Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik’s address today. The session will conclude on July 26.
