The association argued that this was depriving the local cabbies in Shillong and hence was a cause for concern

Amid demands from the All Khasi Meghalaya Tourist Taxi Association for a total restriction on vehicles from other states ferrying people to tourist spots in Meghalaya, state tourism minister Paul Lyngdoh today said that a meeting will be held on July 18 to discuss the demands of the Taxi Association.

Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Meghalaya Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh said, “I have listened to their concerns patiently and we have arranged for an internal meeting on 18th July to assess the situation and discuss their grievances. Everything will be revealed on 18th of July. We will take into consideration the various pros and cons of the subject matter.”

The Association, in a letter to the minister had argued that this was depriving the local cabbies in Shillong and hence was a cause for concern.

Reportedly, this is not the first time that such a demand has been put forward by the All Khasi Meghalaya Tourist Taxi Association.

As per reports, there will be a crucial internal meeting tomorrow between Greater Guwahati Welfare Association that includes all the taxi operators from Guwahati and Assam, All India Motor Transport Association, Tourism Department of Meghalaya and the All Khasi Meghalaya Tourist Taxi Association regarding their concerns.
