Wild elephant relocated to Manas National Park in Assam after five-day rescue operation

In a massive five-day operation, the Assam Forest Department successfully tranquillized and relocated a wild elephant that had entered a civilian area in Hajo area of Kamrup district, to Manas National Park on Tuesday.
A press statement issued by the North Kamrup Forest Division (T) detailed that 50 Forest officials, one SDRF boat, and two kumki elephants were involved in the operation, with support from the Kamrup District Administration, Assam Police, and the public of Hajo.

“A team of doctors led by Pranab Das, FVO, Assam State Zoo sedated the animal and took full care in its transportation to Manas and its revival,” stated an official statement.
Sunnydeo Choudhary, DFO of North Kamrup Forest Division, expressed special thanks and gratitude to Assam Forest Minister Chandramohan Patowary, Hajo MLA Suman Haripriya, Special Secretary of Assam Forest Department MK Yadava, IFS (Rtd.), senior officials of the Assam Forest Department, District Commissioner of Kamrup Keerthi Jalli, Kaushik Barua, and the people of Hajo for their support, cooperation, and efforts in the successful operation.
