UDP President Metbah Lyngdoh Contradicts Paul Lyngdoh's claim, says everything fine between UDP & HSPDP- RDA's two allies
Are differences brewing within the United Democratic Party (UDP)- Meghalaya’s biggest regional party?
Reacting to UDP leader and cabinet minister Paul Lyngdoh’s recent statement about mistrust between RDA partners UDP and the HSPDP, UDP President Metbah Lyngdoh said on Monday that the party would seek clarification from the minister.
“I have not come across any comment from HSPDP where they have said anything about mistrust with UDP. From UDP, we also have nothing to blame HSPDP for the defeat of our candidate,” Metbah Lyngdoh said.
When asked if the alliance between the UDP and HSPDP was intact, Lyngdoh said, “The RDA is very much intact, and there is no problem at all. Whatever has appeared in the media is not correct, and I am stating it on behalf of both UDP and HSPDP.”
Metbah Lyngdoh clarified that the UDP intends to address the issue internally at the party level, indicating a move toward resolving any discord arising from Paul Lyngdoh’s comments.
Paul Lyngdoh stirred up a major controversy recently when he claimed that there is a trust deficit between the two RDA partners after their joint candidate for the Shillong Lok Sabha seat, Robertjune Kharjahrin, faced a humiliating defeat in the recent Lok Sabha Polls.
Paul Lyngod further stated that the HSPDP had verbally informed of its decision to leave the alliance.
