Elephant tramples minor girl to death in Assam, 118 deaths in 2 years

The deceased has been identified as Monika Bodo.
A minor girl was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Assam’s Tamulpur district creating panic amongst people.
The incident took place at Bogajuli in Tamulpur last night.
The deceased has been identified as Monika Bodo.
As per inputs, Monika along with her mother and brother were relaxing at night when a jumbo reportedly strayed out of the nearby forest and attacked their house.
Her mother and brother escaped uninjured, but Monika was unfortunately trampled to death by the elephant.
Man-elephant conflict continues to be a cause of concern in Assam.
73 people were killed due to elephant attacks in 2022, while 45 were killed in 2023.
