Meghalaya High Court receives bomb threat mail

First Published: 18th June, 2024 20:22 IST

Preliminary investigation by the Meghalaya Police has revealed that the threat is a hoax, however, security has been beefed up and further investigation is underway

The Meghalaya High Court on Tuesday received a bomb threat through an email, Meghalaya Police officials said. This is the second time that such a threat has been issued against the Meghalaya High Court.

Pankaj Kumar Rasgania, Superintendent of Police (SP) Shillong City said that security has been beefed up and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the authenticity of the mail though the preliminary investigation shows it to be a hoax mail.

Worth mentioning here that the bomb threat mail to the High Court comes on a day when three airports across different states of India – Vadodara airport in Gujarat, Jaipur airport in Rajasthan and Coimbatore airport in Tamil Nadu too received bomb threat through mails.

Earlier, on May 1, 2024, at least 100 schools in and around Delhi had received bomb threat through mails, thankfully all turning out to be fake.
