Tesam Pongte elected as new speaker of Arunachal Pradesh, Kardo Nigyor as Dy speaker Tesam Pongte has been formally elected unopposed, as the Speaker in the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

Meanwhile, Likabali MLA Kardo Nigyor has been elected as the Deputy Speaker. Earlier yesterday the Eight Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly commenced its first day with the swearing-in of 60 newly elected Members of the Legislative Assembly. The ceremony took place in the state legislative assembly, marking the beginning of a new legislative term. Ninong Ering who was sworn in as the Pro tem Speaker on Thursday, administered the oaths to the newly-elected legislators of the State Legislative Assembly.
