Assam: Patient in AMCH, Dibrugarh commits suicide

A patient undergoing treatment at the Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) Dibrugarh allegedly committed suicide.

The deceased patient has been identified as Bihari Karmakar, who hailed from Doomdooma in Tinsukia district.

Karmakar who was admitted to the High Dependency Unit (HDU) at the hospital after a cholecystectomy (gall bladder operation) was found hanging from the ceiling fan late yesterday night by the hospital authorities, said Dr. Prashanta Dihingia, Superintendent of AMCH.

The matter has been reported to the Barbari Outpost of Dibrugarh Police, and an investigation is underway.
