The State government will further examine this before introducing it, said Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma

The Meghalaya government is planning to introduce the ‘step marking system in the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) to evaluate examinations, said State Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma on Thursday.

Speaking to media Minister Rakkam A Sangma said, “We are also planning to introduce a step marking system in the MBOSE and the State government will further examine this before introducing it.”

Explaining the step marking system Sangma said, “There is a five-mark math question that is being set. There is a method and technique for entering formulas and calculating algebraic and numerical values, and after completing all of these steps, if the final results come out incorrect, the student will get zero marks under our current evaluation system. But in the CBSE and ICSE pattern if the process is correct but in the last line the answer is wrong that student will still get 4 marks or 3 marks.”
