Nothing can be called a family bastion: Meghalaya NPP president on Asatha Sangma losing Tura seat

Prestone Tynsong said that NPP respects the people's mandate, be it in Tura or in Shillong.

Following the results of the Lok Sabha election results, the Meghalaya state president of National People’s Party (NPP), Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday said that no seat should be regarded as a family bastion.
While speaking to media, Tynsong said, “When you discuss about legacy, it links with ownership. This is not a single family’s property. It belongs to the public and is not the property of any one individual.”

Tynsong acknowledged that the party needs to wake up. He further said that NPP respects the people’s mandate, be it in Tura or in Shillong.

“The party will meet soon and will do research, introspect and analyse the performance of the party in Lok Sabha,” Tynsong added.

Meanwhile, the United Democratic Party (UDP) leader and Paul Lyngdoh also reacted on the Lok Sabha election results in Meghalaya.

Reacting on the VPP’s massive victory at the Shillong Lok Sabha seat, Lyngdoh said that the UDP respects the mandate of the people.

Speaking on the loss of UDP candidates, Lyngdoh said that there were some factors that did not work in their favour.
