Tara: The Lost Star trailer released in Guwahati, movie release set for June 14

The trailer for Sikkim-based feature film Tara: The Lost Star, which was screened at the Cannes International Film Festival, released in Guwahati on Monday (June 3).
The film is all set to be released in cinemas on June 14.
The film recently scripted history by becoming the first film from Sikkim to make its debut at the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival in the Palais H auditorium in France on May 20.
The film directed by Samten Bhutia, produced by Sabitri Chettri, under the banner of SaDa Productions in association with Passang Mintok Films.
The film stars Shyama Shree Sherpa and Kiran Dahal in lead roles along with Deoraj Sherpa and Loonibha Tuladhar in other important roles.
During the trailer released event, the song titled as ‘Bhanai’ was sung by late Rahul Rai, the lead vocalist of the renowned band Tribal Rain.
While speaking to media, Bhutia said, “Tara, the Lost Star is more than just a movie, it’s a testament to the rich tapestry of culture and creativity woven in the Himalayan landscapes. The film set against the mesmerizing backdrop of Gnathang-Memenchu near Changu Lake, the film beautifully captures the essence of Sikkim’s natural splendor and cultural heritage.”
The film is all about a young girl named Tara, who finds herself torn between her deeply ingrained belief system and her own aspirations. As she embarks on a journey to break free from the suffocating constraints of tradition, she discovers the courage to challenge the reality imposed upon her by generations past.
The film was completed in about seven months and was extensively shot at Gnathang-Memenchu near Changu Lake in Sikkim. It features several popular artists from Sikkim, neighbouring city Darjeeling and as well as Nepal.
