“Support of Meghalaya’s people has been our strength throughout”, DGP LR Bishnoi’s heartfelt speech on his retirement

In an emotional farewell speech, LR Bishnoi, the outgoing Director General of Police (DGP) in Meghalaya, expressed his deep gratitude to the people of the state and acknowledged the unwavering support he received throughout his tenure. 

Sharing a video on X,  LR Bishnoi said, “As I speak these farewell words, pride and emotions are coming together within me like a symphony, harmonising gratitude, nostalgia, and hope. I will be bidding farewell to an important chapter of my life that has been deeply fulfilling, challenging and immensely rewarding. The resilient and compassionate people of Meghalaya, and their unwavering support have been our strength throughout. The people’s commitment and their collective spirit to bring a safer society have been the cornerstone of our efforts.”

He also thanked Chief Minister Conrad Sangma for guiding him and the entire police force through the labyrinth of challenges, the state police had to face during its war on drugs in the state.

“Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has been a beacon, guiding us through the labyrinth of challenges. His unwavering commitment to make Meghalaya drug-free resonated with every beat of our hearts,” he said.

Bishnoi also thanked his colleagues and family members for their crucial roles in the accomplishments made possible during his tenure. 

“I extend my heartfelt thanks and deepest gratitude and my fervent prayers for a future filled with prosperity, peace, and progress to each one of you, ” he added.

DGP LR Bishnoi’s term ended yesterday and he has been replaced by Idashisha Nongrang, a 1992 batch woman IPS officer. Notably, she is the first tribal lady from our state to hold this position.
