Taking advantage of the popularity of the virtual mode of learning, the Education department has come up with the concept of Virtual classroom.

Meghalaya Government in its endeavour to support Science Education in the state, has started various programmes like PULSE : Promoting, Understanding and Learning Science Education and Tech Tutor Meghalaya: Exploring Science and mathematics in the virtual classroom.

Taking advantage of the popularity of the virtual mode of learning, the Education department has come up with the concept of Virtual classroom. The advent of virtual classrooms driven by educational technology (EdTech) is expected to become a game-changing force in the rapidly evolving field of education.

Meghalaya Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma spoke exclusively to Northeast Live and shared his thoughts on the government’s initiative. He said, ” Science has now become a part of life for every student. Science has become the centrestage for every student. If you are not well prepared with science education, you are not a complete man. Therefore this time we are trying to bring up the standard of learning science for students in lower class and upto the higher level.”

To take things to newer and better levels, the Meghalaya Government has also signed an MoU with the IIT-Guwahati.

Regarding this Rakkam A Sangma said, “With that objective this time we have signed and MoU with the IIT-Guwahati, wherein our science and mathematics teachers are being trained by the IIT-Guwahati, under batch wise residential training in Guwahati. So that our teachers are well prepared with the new dynamics of science and technology. The immediate theory has changed now, some theories of science have changed.”

“I think as a teacher as a student, we all should update ourselves. The environment keeps on changing and even the theories too,” Sangma added.

Asked as to what he thinks about PULSE and Tech Tutor Meghalaya, the Meghalaya Education Minister said, “We have launched this program to encourage, to inspire the students in making their minds better and create interests for science education. They will be understanding practically what they have learned in theory.

Through Tech Tutor Meghalaya, experts are there for every day and every week, where they will be talking about some of the top points on topics and agendas of science and technology. The whole idea is to make students interested for science education.”
