The 4.94 km Bogibeel Bridge will be ready for inspection by Commissioner of Railway Safety by the second week of this October.
This was informed to the Chairman of Railway Board, Ashwini Lohani, by NF Railway General Manager Sanjeev Roy during a review meeting.
Roy further informed that the NF Railway has set a target for track renewal of 288 km of broad gauge line.
Apart from this, 192 km of gauge conversion and commissioning of 95 km of new broad gauge line will be made within this financial year.
It may be mentioned that the India’s longest rail-cum-road bridge will not only facilitate connectivity between north and south banks of the river Brahmaputra in the eastern region of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh but it will be a major boost to defence logistics along the border.
The 4.94 km bridge is also seen as a further boost to the country’s security infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh that shares borders with China.
