Himanta Biswa Sarma said that there was a huge euphoria among the first time voters as well as the elder ones because of the development agenda.

As voters braving inclement weather turned up in sizeable numbers to exercise their franchise in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his gratitude to the voters in Assam for taking part in the Lok Sabha elections by fully embracing peace.

CM Sarma accompanied by his wife Riniki Bhuyan Sharma and daughter Sukanya Sarma after casting his vote at a polling station in Barpeta, said that there was a huge euphoria among the first time voters as well as the elder ones because of the development agenda.

“Today is the last day of Assam Election, we have completed peacefully all the three phases. There was a very good turnout, we have recorded almost more than 80% voting in both first and second phase, today also I am sure we are going to record 80% voting. I would like to thank people of Assam for peaceful voting, for a very good turnout. I am sure that people of Assam will support a Bharat which will become Vishwa Guru, which will achieve it’s goal in Amrit Kaal,” the Assam CM said.

Asked as to how many seats the BJP and its allies will win in the parliamentary elections in Assam, CM Sarma said, “See everything is now locked inside the EVM, now you (to journalists) have to do the calculations. I will be campaigning outside the state after May 9, so I have left it upon you to do the calculations. Who will get how much votes… let that matter remain inside the EVM, I will express my views two days before the announcement of results. Only thing I know is that people have voted for development.”

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also shared his views on the huge participation of first time voters in the elections. Worth mentioning, the Assam Chief Minister’s daughter Sukanya Sarma is also a first time voter. She was seen casting her vote along with her father and mother Riniki Bhuyan Sharma.
“Assam has witnessed a huge turnout this time, there is a huge euphoria among the first time voters as well as the elder citizens. The euphoria is because of the development. People of Assam have seen unprecedented development in the last one decade and we want to continue with that,” Sarma said.

Sarma expressing his thoughts on the remaining phases of the Lok Sabha election said, “Assam has completed it’s duty, we are over with the voting, now in the next 4 phases there will be crucial voting in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh. So all the phases will have it’s own importance and significance, but we are happy with the way we are progressing. We are going towards our goal.”

It may be mentioned that, CM Sarma covered 103 out of 126 assembly segments during his campaign for the Lok Sabha elections.

In a post on X, CM Sarma after campaigning for the third phase officially ended had mentioned, “My election campaign in Assam was like a pilgrimage. In the last 40 days, I covered the entire state and addressed 117 public meetings and road shows. It felt like a holy dip in the Ganges for me. The lively atmosphere and blessings completely rejuvenated me. I will continue to dedicate every moment of my life to the people of Assam.”
