BJP North Tripura President Kajal Das arrested for manhandling polling official, gets bail President of BJP’s North Tripura district Kajal Das was arrested on Monday after a video of him manhandling a polling official went viral on social media.
In the video, Das could be seen repeatedly assaulting the presiding officer at a polling station in Bagbasa constituency during the second phase polling on April 26.
According to a senior police official, a complaint was lodged against Kajal Das by the Assistant Returning Officer of Dharmanagar, leading to a specific case being registered against him.
Jayanta Debnath, the Officer in-charge of Kadamtala police station where the case was filed, stated that an investigation was conducted based on reports from sector officers, micro observers, and the viral video.
Debnath confirmed that a complaint was lodged under various sections of the IPC. It may be mentioned here that Das was later granted bail by a Dharmanagar Court.
