Assam LS Polls: Kokrajhar’s NDA candidate Joyanta Basumatary files nomination

BJP’s national president, JP Nadda held an election rally in Kokrajhar in support of Jayanta Basumatary.
National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA ) candidate from Kokrajhar, Assam Joyanta Basumatary today filed his nomination for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Basumatary took out a massive rally before filing his nomination papers. The rally included prominent political figures such as Minister Chandra Mohan Patwari, Assam Gana Parishad General Secretary Ramendra Kalita, MLAs Lawrence Islari, along with several leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).
BJP’s national president, JP Nadda also held an election rally in Kokrajhar in support of Jayanta Basumatary.
Addressing the gathering at Kokrajhar Green Field, the BJP national President said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi can take strong decision and under his initiative Bodo Peace Accord was signed which paved the way for peace and development in the Bodo Territorial Region (BTR) area after decades of unrest.
He said, BTR area was earlier known for violence and disturbances but now this area has set an example of peace and development. He said, the Center has allocated Rs 1500 crore for development work as per the peace accord and more than 1000 militant surrendered during this period.
Nadda slammed the Congress for neglecting the reason and its divisive policies for this area and said that BJP believes in inclusiveness.
Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Council, Pramod Boro said that Basumatary is sure to win by a large margin. He said that BJP national President J.P Nadda’s visit to Kokrajhar further strengthened the position of NDA in the region.
