In a startling accusation, the former Chief Minister of Sikkim and president of the opposition Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), Pawan Chamling, has held the supporters of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) responsible for the alleged molestation of a woman in Rinchenpong in West Sikkim.

Chamling pointed fingers at supporters of SKM candidate Erung Tenzing Lepcha, linking them to the alleged molestation incident which has sparked outrage and concern within the people.

However, no response from the SKM to these accusations against Erung Tenzing Lepcha’s supporters has come yet.

The allegations made by Chamling have further inflamed the political climate as campaigning intensifies ahead of the upcoming elections.

The two main regional political parties in Sikkim- SDF and SKM have been engaged in a fierce battle for electoral support.

Meanwhile, there seems to be no end to pre-poll violence in Sikkim that goes to poll on April 19.

In another incident of pre-poll violence that took place in Rangpo SNT colony yesterday night, two SDF workers were injured. The SDF has blamed the ruling SKM for the violence.

The incidents have highlighted the escalating tensions and polarization surrounding the election campaign in Sikkim.
