Assam: Fierce encounter between Assam Rifles and militants, 1 AR trooper injured

One Assam Rifles personnel was injured in an encounter with militants in Assam’s Tinsukia district this morning. The attack took place near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border near Namdang in Margherita.
As per reports a convoy of Assam Rifles in three vehicles was coming from Changlang in Arunachal Pradesh towards Margherita in Assam when suspected ULFA-Independent cadres hurled grenades at them. Assam Rifles personnel in the first and the third vehicle then launched a counter attack, thereby thwarting the ambush, Assam Rifles said in a statement.
The injured Assam Rifles personnel has been airlifted to Dinjan Army Hospital, as per reports. Security forces have launched a massive operation in the area.
