Assam Lok Sabha Polls: Ensuring 100% voter turnout, ECI launches voting through postal ballots for journalists, security personnel in Dibrugarh

The eligible voters have cast their votes through postal ballot in a facility created at the Dibrugarh District Commissioner's Office.
Ensuring that all the elegible voters are able to exercise their participation in the democratic process, the Election Commission has outlined the process of voting through postal ballots for the government offices, journalsts and security personnel, who will not be able to visit their home costituencies to vote due to poll related engagements.
With only 3 days left for the polling to take place for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections – 2024 in Assam, the process of casting vote through postal ballots is on in Dibrugarh.
The eligible voters have cast their votes through postal ballot in a facility created at the Dibrugarh District Commissioner’s Office.
Notably, the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency will witness a close race amongst three candidates – Sarbananda Sonowal (BJP), Lurinjyoti Gogoi(AJP) and Manoj Dhanowar(AAP).
It is to be mentioned that the Election Commission of India has also introduced the “Vote-from-Home” option through postal ballots, specifically targeting two distinct voter groups: individuals aged 85 years and older, and persons with disabilities with a minimum disability rating of 40 percent.
The Election Commission’s initiative underscores its unwavering dedication to inclusivity and accessibility in democratic practices.
The on duty polling officers visited houses at different corners garnered appreciation from voters for their comprehensive outreach.
Polling for the fourteen Lok Sabha seats in Assam will be held in three phases on April 19, April 26 and May 7.
