Meghalaya: Miscreants attack construction workers, one dead

Police has informed that a case is being registered and investigation is under progress to identity the culprits in this connection.

Meghalaya Cabinet minister Alexander Laloo Hek on Wednesday condemned the incident in Mawlai, where 1 labourer died and 2 sustained injuries after they were assaulted at a construction site by some unidentified people.

Hek, who is also a senior BJP leader said that he will write to the Centre including the Union Home minister Amit Shah about these incidents as why such incidents are happening in the state of Meghalaya.
The incident took place earlier on Wednesday in Mawlai Mawroh, just fifteen days after the brutal murders of two individuals in East Khasi Hill’s Ichamati.

Hek further said that such inhuman and barbaric incidents have been occurring for a long time causing much shame to the state.

Hek said that he has spoken to the family of the victims and instructed them to file an FIR .

He further added that the only way to curb these crimes is to arrest the culprit as soon as possible and take the matter at hand seriously by the government.

He stated that he will meet Home minister Prestone Tynsong and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in the matter.

It may be mentioned that a person identified as Arjun Ray (52 years) got severely injured and later passed away at NEIGHRIMS.

Meanwhile, police has informed that a case is being registered and investigation is under progress to identity the culprits in this connection.
