Lok Sabha polls-Manipur: Manipur Democratic Alliance announces unconditional support to NDA candidates

BJP's Thanoujam Basanta Kumar Singh and NPF's Kachui Timothy Zimik are the 2 NDA candidates who are in the fray from the Manipur (Inner) and Manipur (Outer) constituencies.

The Manipur Democratic Alliance (MDA), a group of 10 political parties has extended it’s unconditional support to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates who are contesting the Lok Sabha elections from the 2 parliamentary seats in the state.

MDA Chairman Bijoy Koijam made the announcement in Imphal this afternoon, following several rounds of discussions between the MDA partners.

Briefing newspersons, MDA chairperson Bijoy Koijam said, “As desired by the leaders of the parties, we are going to support the NDA candidates. It is our desire to bring peace and harmony and our goal is to ensure what people wants. So we are supporting the 2 candidates of the NDA.”

It may be mentioned that the BJP and the NPP has backed NPF’s Kachui Timothy Zimik in the Manipur (Outer) seat, as per the agreement between the NDA partners.

Zimik is in the fray against Alfred Arthur Kangam of the Congress and independent candidates S Kho John and Alyson Abonmai.

Kachui Timothy Zimik in a social media post appreciated the Manipur Democratic Alliance (MDA)’s decision to extend support to the NDA candidates in the 2 Lok Sabha seats.

In the post Zimik mentioned, “Thank you #Manipur #Democratic #Alliance for the declaration at #Shiv #Sena #Office to support me as the Naga consensus #NPF/#NDA candidate for the 18th Lok Sabha Election, 2024.StrongerTogether”

In Manipur Inner seat, state Education Minister Thanoujam Basanta Kumar Singh is contesting the elections against Angomcha Bimol Akoijam of the Congress, Maheswar Thanoujam of RPI (A), independent candidates- Rajkumar Somendro Singh, Moirangthem Totomshana Nongshaba and Haorungbam Sarat Singh.
