CM Saha is confident that this time the BJP's vote share will also increase too as compared to 2019.

In a big political statement ahead of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha today said that the competition in the 2 parliamentary seats in the state is now only between the BJP candidates.

Virtually rejecting the presence of the Opposition as contenders, CM Manik Saha termed it as a healthy competition.

CM Saha said this during an election campaign to drum up support for BJP candidate from East Tripura parliamentary constituency Maharani Kriti Devi Singh Debbarma.

CM Manik Saha said, “The IPFT and the TIPRA Motha is supporting us in the elections that will happen on April 26 (for the Tripura East Lok Sabha constituency). I attended a rally in Kanchanpur and everyone can see that people want Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister for the 3rd time. We will surely win both the seats, but the number of votes that we received in 2019 will be much higher this time. The competition is now between our candidates Biplab Kumar Deb in Tripura West and our Tripura East candidate as to who among them will be able to garner the maximum number of votes. This is a healthy competition. There is no quesiton about our candidates winning in both the seats, they will certainly win.”

On the other hand, Kriti Devi Singh Debbarma expressed confidence in her victory, attributing it to the blessings of her grandmother, Maharani Kanchan Prabha Devi, after whom Kanchanpur is named, as well as the support of local voters and the Chief Minister.

In the Tripura East Lok Sabha seat, it will be a direct contest between BJP’s Kriti Devi Singh Debbarma and CPI-M’s Rajendra Reang.
