Lok Sabha polls-Meghalaya: TMC and Cong have understood they are not winning in Tura, says NPP’s Rakkam A Sangma

Incumbent MP and NPP candidate Agatha Sangma is contesting against Saleng A Sangma of the Congress and Zenith Sangma of the TMC in the Tura Lok Sabha seat.

The NPP is sure that it will have a landslide victory in its Tura Lok Sabha seat in the ensuing elections.

In fact, the NPP is also expecting a berth for its Tura candidate Agatha Sangma, in the Union cabinet.

NPP leader and a minister in the Conrad Sangma cabinet, Rakkam Sangma predicted that Agatha Sangma, will win by a record margin in the elections.

According to Rakkam A Sangma, the Opposition has already understood that they have lost the battle.

Speaking to Northeast Live on Agatha Sangma’s winnability chances, Rakkam A Sangma said, “The momentum and the way the campaign started it looks Agatha Sangma of NPP will win with one of the biggest margin in the history of Meghalaya. Looking at the way opposition parties are campaigning, I see that they are not just serious. Because both the TMC and the COngress have understood that they are not winning.”

Rakkam A Sangma also said that the NDA is coming back to power again and hence it will not be wise to send a opposition candidate to Delhi.

“Looking at the national perspective, the NDA is coming back to power. Sending Agatha again as an MP will truly be a blessing to the state, to the region Garo Hills. Be it the Congress, the TMC they will be in the opposition, so what they can do? NDA is coming back to power with a huge majority, so sending an opposition candidate does not make any sense,” Sangma added.

Backing a ministerial berth for Agatha Sangma in the union cabinet, Rakkam A Sangma said that though it will be the prerogative of the Prime Minister, he feels that Agatha Sangma is the right person as representative from NE to be included in the union ministry.

He said, “That is the prerogative of the Prime Minister. I would be happy and I would like to request the Union government if she could be accomodated as an women MP and since she was also the youngest Union minister. SHe will be one of the unique representative from the women side if the central government really wants to respect women and also as a representative of Northeast. Because Northeast needs more representatives in the union cabinet. I will be happy if Agatha Sangma is accomodated.”
