Lok Sabha Polls-Meghalaya: Voice of People’s Party (VPP) releases election manifesto

The Voice of People’s Party (VPP) has released its party manifesto for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

The manifesto primarily highlights on the party’s agenda which involves key issues like implementation of the ILP, inclusion of the Khasi language in the 8th Schedule, reservation of jobs in central government offices besides others.

Briefing newspersons, the VPP leadership said, “Some of the points that we are going to raise are good governance, democracy, secularism, pluralism, education, Article 371, 6th Schedule. We will also engage on the border policy, power sector, agriculture sector, environment and also we also speak up on the border dispute with Assam, reservation of jobs in central government offices. We will seek the intervention of the central government on the menace of drugs abuse, we will oppose the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), we will press for the inclusion of the Khasi language in the 8th Schedule. We will press for the infrastructure for sports, infrastructure for sports facilities, we will also stress on the importance of ILP. Besides we will also stand against the implementation of the CAA. We will deal with the improvement of the health sector, improvement of road infrastructure, communication technology.

We will also take up matters like enhancement of airway infrastructure, opposition to uranium mining, opposition to establishment of railway lines, especially in Khasi and Jaintia Hills.

Last of all, We will also ensure effective implementation of centrally sponsored schemes.”

It may be mentioned that the VPP is contesting the parliamentary elections for the first time and has fielded Ricky AJ Syngkon from the Shillong seat.
