A pregnant woman had to endure a painful journey to Majuli hospital, as she was brought in a sling made out of blanket hung from bamboo poles.
The woman was brought in from Baralimara in Assam’s Lakhimpur district to neighbouring Majuli hospital.
She had to be carried all the way to the hospital as the road connecting Lakhimpur with neighbouring Majuli is not in a state for motor vehicles to ply on.
The woman had to endure extreme pain for over three hours while going into labour.
Few local people came up in Majuli to help the pregnant woman and her family members reach the hospital safely.
It may be mentioned here that recently another woman had been brought to the hospital from Lakhimpur on a cart given the bad condition of the connecting road.
The road condition continues to be poor despite several protests made by the locals.
