The MNF announced the name of K Vanlalvena as its candidate for the lone Lok Sabha seat in Mizoram for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections

The Mizo National Front (MNF) on Friday announced K Vanlalvena as its candidate for the lone Lok Sabha seat in Mizoram for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. His name was announced in the presence of MNF President and former Mizoram CM Zoramthanga in Aizawl.

Speaking to media persons after the announcement, Vanlalvena said that if elected to the Lower House he would deliver his speeches in the House in Mizo. “Voters in Mizoram say that the ability to speak Hindi is important as an MP, but I am certain that actions are more important than the ability to speak in Hindi or English, and if the people of Mizoram elect me as their MP for the Lok Sabha, I shall give a speech in the Parliament in Mizo,” Vanlalvena said.

He said that the MNF is a regional party who is going to participate in the Lok Sabha elections being fought primarily between the NDA and I.N.D.I.A alliance. He stated that an MP from Mizoram does not have an impact in the decision of electing the country’s government, but that it is imperative to fight against the NDA who is determined to impose the Uniform Civil Code.

Vanlalvena is the sitting Rajya Sabha MP from Mizoram and has been very vocal in the upper House about issues concerning the state.

Vanlalvena, a former student leader of Mizoram who had served as the president of Mizo Zirlai Pawl, the apex students body of the state, joined the MNF in 2002 as the General Secretary of the party youth’s wing.

Born at East Lungdar of Serchhip district on January 14, 1970, he completed his Bachelor of Science from Pachhunga University College, Aizawl and was an agriculturist by profession.

Vanlalvena is pitched against Richard Vanlalhmangaiha of ZPM, Congress’s Lalbiakzama, People’s Conference’s Rita Malsawmi and Independent candidate Lalhriatrenga Chhangte, a former Congress leader.
