The CM Office has also cautioned news channels to refrain from publishing unverified information to avoid legal action

Putting an end to all rumours about the official website of Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh (https://www.cmmanipur.gov.in/) being temporarily suspended by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), the Chief Minister’s Office today clarified that the information being circulated on various social media platforms are false and misleading.

Issuing a statement, the Chief Minister’s Office said that the CM office has voluntarily suspended the website in order to comply with the terms of the MCC.

It also cautioned news channels to refrain from publishing unverified information to avoid legal action.

“It is reported in various media platforms that the official website of the Chief Minister’s Office, namely, www.cmmaniour.gov.in has been temporarily suspended by the Election Commission of India for violation of the Model Code of Conduct. The above position is incorrect. The website has been temporarily suspended voluntarily by the Chief Minister’s Office so as to observe compliance with provisions of the Model Code of Conduct and not on account of any instruction of the ECI for any violation. Media bodies are advised to refrain from publication of unverified information as news, as the same may invite legal action,” the statement read.
