2024 election: Sikkim political parties welcome dates announced by EC, say ready to face elections

In the Himalayan state leaders have exuded confidence that their respective parties are all geared up to face the election.
Leaders cutting across party lines in Sikkim have welcomed the announcement of the dates for the Assembly Elections in Sikkim and Lok Sabha election to the lone seat.
Jacob Khaling, SKM Spokesperson cum Political Secretary to Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang said, “The SKM heartily accepts the dates announced by the ECI. We would like to thank the ECI at this juncture. The SKM will prepare for the election as per the rules and regulations fixed by the ECI and the Model Code of Conduct that will come into force as notified.
We will appeal for votes on the basis of the Report Card of the historic and pioneering works done by our SKM Chief and CM PS Tamang in the last 5 years to take the state in the path of progress, ensure welfare of the state, safeguarding the future of the youths and especially alleviating the sufferings of the needy. We think people will vote for us in our favour in all the 32 constituencies on the basis of this report card.”
On the other hand, SDF chief and former 5-time CM Pawan Chamling has welcomed the announcement of the poll dates.
In a statement, Chamling in a press statement said, “Our state of Sikkim will exercise this right on the 19th of April and the chosen government will decide the future of Sikkim and the Sikkimese people. By the process of voting, the people of Sikkim will be placing their hopes, aspirations, lives and their future in the hands of the new government.”
“The power of the janta is supreme and on 19th April, this power will be put into action. As a responsible citizen and public servant, I extend my best wishes to the people of Sikkim for the upcoming elections. May there be victory for the people of Sikkim!,” Chamling added.
LP Kafley, Chairman, Election Campaign Committee of the Citizens Action Party said, “On behalf of the people of Sikkim we welcome the dates as announced by the ECI. The CAP is fully prepared to go to the elections. We are fighting in all the 32 seats and will announce the candidate for the Lok Sabha seat too. The upcoming elections will be for improving Sikkim, developing Sikkim and for bringing reformative politics in Sikkim, for this the CAP is already on a mission.”
