11 ticket aspirants for BJP in Meghalaya’s 2 LS seats, party says ready to fight polls

Meghalaya BJP president Rikman G Momin refused to divulge the names of the ticket aspirants officially
The Meghalaya BJP has sent names of 11 candidates for the Shillong and Tura Lok Sabha seats. They are expecting the central leadership to announce the candidates for the two Meghalaya seats in the 3rd list.
As per inputs, the list of probables for the Shillong Lok Sabha constituency includes the names of-
- AL Hek, Cabinet Minister
- Ernest Mawrie, Former Meghalaya BJP president
- Mewaker Lyngdoh state president of BJYM
- Dr Fenela Lyngdoh Nonglait
- Sumitra Laloo
On the other hand the BJP ticket aspirants for the Tura seat are-
- Bernard N Marak, Tura MDC
- Winnerson D Sangma, former MLA
- Boston Marak
- Riya Sangma
- KC Boro
- Thomas Marak
However, Meghalaya BJP president Rikman G Momin refused to divulge the names officially.
He said, “Names I will not say, but there are 5 names from Tura parliamentary seat and 6 from the Shillong constituency.
Asked as to why the party is yet to announce the names of candidates till now, Rikman G Momin said, “That I cannot say, it is a central subject only, because whatever we had to sent it we had already sent it.”
Momin also responded to a query on when he expects the names to be officially announced.
He said, “May be in the third list, it will be coming shortly.”
Regarding the party’s prospects in the ensuing elections, Rikman Momin said, “We are waiting to fight the election. We have already started our campaigning and other party works, even the workers conventions. Everywhere we are doing our party activities.”
Worth mentioning, BJP’s Big Brother in the MDA, the NPP has already announced its candidates for both the seats.
Cabinet Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh will be in the fray from the Shillong seat while incumbent Tura MP Agatha Sangma retained her ticket.
The Congress too has announced the names of candidates. Incumbent MP Vincent Pala will be contesting once again from the Shillong LS seat, while the Congress has fielded MLA Saleng A Sangma from the Tura seat.
The TMC has fielded Zenith Sangma from the Tura seat.
